OUR STORY

The Choir

The Church Choir

The choir play an important role in worship at Eaglesham. They lead the singing, accompanied by The Organ, at the Sunday morning service as well as contributing either an introit or an anthem from October through to April. In addition, the choir usually prepare for a special service or concert at the end of each session - normally coinciding with Christmas and Easter.

The choir sing a wide variety of music: traditional music from the 17th and 18th centuries through to contemporary composers such as John Rutter and Stuart Townend so should appeal to all tastes. Introits tend to come from the Church Hymnbook, CH4, and are sometimes used to teach the congregation new hymns.

Rehearsals take place on a Thursday night at 7:30pm in the Upper Room of the Carswell Halls. We practice the hymns for the following Sunday, introits and anthems plus any other music for extra services and concerts.

Choir practices are fun and provide a time for fellowship as well as praising God through music. The choir is still greatly supported by its current members, but could do with some extra people to boost our numbers, particularly in the men’s sections. Why not come along and give it a go - even if just for one night to see what its like. While we get through a lot of music, practices are light-hearted and you don’t need to be able to read music. Speak to any choir member or the minister to find out more.

Alongside the musical aspect of the choir, we support a number of charities each year. Money is raised through the annual Choir Coffee Morning, organised by choir members. Also, at the end of each session the choir go out for a meal at the Peking Village in Eaglesham.

There is a choir committee who oversee the administration and general running of the choir.
